What is a Community Leadership Program

Community Leadership Programs (CLP) build capacity through leadership development.  There are thousands of CLPs across the United States all working to provide local leadership opportunities in their communities. Traditionally, these programs foster individual growth through skill development, networking, and consulting. Guiding and growing leaders for tomorrow ensures a sustainable future.

What is Leadership Golden Belt

Leadership Golden Belt is an adaptable community leadership program that serves Barton, Pawnee, Rush, and Stafford County, Kansas.  LGB is a fund of Golden Belt Community Foundation providing a permanent source of support and funding to local community leadership initiatives in our service area.

Leadership Golden Belt is currently open and accepting applications for this year! If you would like more information, click HERE. If you would like the application for LGB click HERE. Feel free to contact our office for any additional questions you might have. Applications are due May 20th.

The success of the Leadership Golden Belt is immeasurable.  Entrepreneurs, retirees, chambers, employees, policy makers, and volunteers have all attended Leadership Golden Belt.  Several projects have come into fruition as a result of the program.  Past leadership initiatives include: the first frisbee golf course around Vet’s Lake in Great Bend; Friends of Cheyenne Bottoms supporting Wetlands Education Center; placemaking renovations to the downtown area of Great Bend; and the development of the Young Professionals of Barton County.  The program has also hosted several trainings and workshops: Customer Service Training; Supervisor Bootcamp; Entrepreneurship Speakers Panel; Strategic Planning for Organizations and Teams; and A Coaching Approach to Leadership.  Even though the program evolves, the vision remains the same: to inspire leadership by engaging people more deeply.

Leadership Golden Belt adds new tables and umbrellas to Jack Kilby Square.  The 2018 Leadership Golden Belt class was tasked with creating a vibrant community around the Summer Street Stroll Farmers Market.  Participants had a $10,000 budget to assist with creative ways to reinforce community pride using creative placemaking, community events, and focusing on people attraction, to fuel a greater Great Bend.

Most recent Leadership class.
